Global News@lemmy.zip•Japan's Takaichi dissolves parliament after only 3 months in office, setting up snap electionEnglish
3·6 days agoIt’s common where the executive (usually the prime minister) can choose to dissolve parliament and hold an election. There are usually time limits and conditions associated with that power, but the PM will generally choose a time that is most favourable. Otherwise, they can run the risk of being forced to hold an election at an inopportune time and risk losing.

It’s a launcher, that I find is very close to how I set up my Nova (my wife couldn’t tell the difference between my octopi and Nova setups). I got mine from the play store. It’s free with a couple of cosmetic pro features for a couple of bucks.
Have you tried octopi?

11·10 days agoBig Trouble in Little China. Was expected to be the smash hit of 1986, but poor marketing killed it. Perhaps it was also a decade or three ahead of its time.

There’s so much optimism in this post. They’ll just nuke your house from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

I’m also getting communities that I’m not subscribed to showing up in my subscribed feed. It feels like it’s defaulting to all every time I use the app. I have to choose subscribed each time to reset it. Just started today.
Edit: Latest update appears to have fixed the problem. Thanks.

I played for a while, thanks to Jingles. Never really grabbed me though.

8·1 month agoIt is. Rather than shoot it well and then tweak it in post, they shoot it to give themselves the greatest number of options in post. It’s a scourge.

I use FitoTrack, which I found on FDroid. It’s reliant on third parties (Mastodon, etc) for sharing, but it does all that.

3021·2 months agoWhile well-intentioned, this is never going to happen. The last thing the Authorities want is civilians being incentivised to take the law into their own hands to win top awards. Ahmed was a very lucky man. It could have ended there and then for him. And he still ended up being shot.

4·2 months agoWe were doing it in the late 80s at university. Showing a bunch of SF/F movies in a lecture hall on the weekend for five bucks. We made an absolute killing on the drinks and snacks, which we used to buy books for the SF/F club library.
