Okay, but the real question is: Did she give birth to a whole-ass baby or a whole ass-baby?

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•[image] when good infrastructure design does not just prioritize cars its a plus for everyone.English
11·1 day agoImagine having to drive 50m to do a U-turn. Literally communism, amirite?
But seriously, that’s probably an intended feature, because people randomly turning into oncoming traffic is one of the main causes for accidents. Also note the double yellow line in the “before” image, so turns were prohibited even then.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•y'all wheren't satisfied with previous tierlist because it didnt have enough distros. i present: 100% legit tierlist 2: electric boogaloo
2·2 days agoA chameleon makes no sense. Suse is S, as a humorous reference to its name, which is like 50% S. Similarly, mint is a minty M and fedora is a literal fedora.

cats@lemmy.world•So I wanted to work again, but I can’t because I risk waking up the cat with my mechanical keyboard…
3·2 days agoThe perch is square too. I sewed him a pillow and a small blanket for it. He was hesitant to go there at first, but now he loves it so much he’ll nap there all day when I wfh, sometimes even on non-work days.

6·2 days agoRecently bought an Ergo Purrch to keep my cat away from the keyboard. Very effective, and the cat loves it.

World News@lemmy.world•Germany issues formal travel advisory for USEnglish
34·2 days agoThis is all true, but it might still be worth reporting that the most recent update of the travel advisories now lists two points under “current”: (1) the winter storm that currently affects some parts of the US and (2) the violence perpetrated by ICE and other immigration officials against protesters in Minneapolis.

5·3 days agoDidn’t realize Cosmic went 1.0 in December. How is it? I tried it a few months ago and really liked the tiling features and overall feel, but it was still a bit rough around the edges.

Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Skier mauled by snow leopard after getting too close for a pictureEnglish
35·3 days agoBased on my reading of the community rules, there’s nothing stating that only metaphorical leopards eating metaphorical faces are allowed.
Me: *walking down the hallway before going to bed*
Cat: Absolutely fucking not.

Memes@sopuli.xyz•in all fairness italian cuisine is a relatively recent invention
13·4 days agoIt’s a reference to Alberto Grandi and his theses about the origins of many popular Italian dishes that are perceived as “traditional” but did not become mainstream until after WWII (and that Italian cuisine before that was much more regional and less homogeneous).
I think there’s something to those arguments, but it is worth noting that he’s not really a “food historian” as he’s often described but a professor of economics and management.
What country would that be in? Because where I live (Germany), medical researchers face pretty much the same challenges as researchers in other fields.

21·6 days agoI think we’re reaching the point where “anti smart glasses” glasses should become a thing, that is, a type of electronic glasses that can detect whether the person you’re talking to is wearing smart glasses and warn you about it.

Depends on your definition of “users”. If “user” means “source of personal information to train AI models” then households absolutely are users. I guess we’re entering a world where different users do different things for a company like Microsoft: Corporations buy licenses for OS and software, households and individuals provide data to train the AI models that permeate it all.
