2·1 year agoIt’s definitely nutrek but it’s halfway back to old trek in the format IMHO. Not just the paintjob but in the types of episodes they tend to do. Picard was unwatchable for me. “Hey nerd 'member the Enterprise D? 'Member??? Ok now fuck off”
This is how Americans react when someone in the world says “damn maybe the one guy running the factory shouldn’t have like a boat and three sports cars”

7·1 year agoAnd a lot of the Jan 6 chuds really, really thought they’d get away with it. They had two very strongly held beliefs:
- If we’re holding Thin Blue Line flags and screaming the word constitution, the state wouldn’t touch us!
- If we really, truly believe, in our heart of hearts, that we’re covered by a legal exception to do crimes, the state can’t touch us!
The test for many legal exceptions is whether a “reasonable person” would believe such-and-such. But conservatives really think that if they strongly profess a belief, that’s just as good. It’s why they started calling all their opponents pedophiles. The actual concept doesn’t even cross their mind, to them it’s just a word that means “can be murdered”

38·1 year agoOld Trek always danced around it, but In Strange New Worlds there’s a roughly 3000 year old character in Starfleet who says “I still have a bunker in Vermont in case this ‘no money socialist utopia’ thing turns out to be a fad”

22·1 year agoIt was effective because Republicans get a lot of mileage out of pretending to be the “everyman” - and since they can’t claim it on economic grounds, they claim it based on pure vibes. But really anyone who’s at all involved in Republican politics is actually a freak far beyond either your average republican voter, or even a center to left political freak. Their policies are incredibly unpopular to the point where if you even tell a conservative voter what the policies are, they think they’re so outlandish that you’re literally lying to make your opponents sound insane. It made cons mad because it was working. Then the Clinton people broke down the door and put a stop to it

games@hexbear.net•Star Citizen's original actual promised game where Star Citizen was supposed to be a multiplayer spinoff, Squadron 42, coming out 2026. For real. Lucy will keep the football there unlike 2014, 2016...English
3·1 year agoI really want a game like Star Citizen that isn’t trying to physics simulate butt sweat or whatever. Just a milsim lite ship combat + FPS multiplayer game, but it has actual content like different combat missions and scenarios and multicrew ships with engineering and so on. And isn’t a buggy piece of shit. I feel like Star Citizen took the energy out of its own niche
meanwhile they slipped in “oh by the way you don’t need to see a rifle when you’re tallying up your score!” which is just stepping diagonally into regular old genocide

I can’t exactly remember, but I think she was the one way more involved in research on radioactivity, while Pierre was more focused on other scientific areas that didn’t have the same impact on society. Also he was kind of a Wife Guy so he didn’t steal her credit
