My wife cried as she destroyed 3 years of animal and human samples collected by her team of ~100 people in Africa through three major institutions. Each sample represented hundreds of man hours and… There was no funding. Her new job in Europe was starting (two months ago) and we had to leave - there was nobody to continue the work. She searched everywhere for ANYONE willing to analyze/finish the work and take first author. The cold reality was very very sad. There was no freezer space for work that nobody would continue.

In the coming decades she hopes to go back to discovering the mysteries that zoonotic diseases will help humanity unlock.

That is duper depressing. Ouch. Based on the stuff I grew up on, I fully expected most adults to be scientists. Oh the disappointment as I got older.

Woke is a different word for empathy. And the right does not have that. Never had. They do not even understand the concept. They see if as a threat!

US science is dead. Killed in 2025.

NIH Cancer research grant announcement before 2025: 1100 a year, after 2025: 11.

good thing no one gets cancer

Yup, it’s done. The US had its own brain drain last year, and you can’t just put in a new president and fix it. That kind of thing takes several decades to create, but … checks notes … less than a year to destroy.

Conservatives are fantastic at destroying stuff that more intelligent and more well adjusted human beings created.

They are basically the little douchebags that would love to kick over things other kids made - building blocks, sand castles, whatever…and have never grown up.

Split up in to 50 countries. Give tax breaks on moving expenses and keep open borders for 5 years. Hell, give people money to move.

Get Americans sorted in to their tribes and call it a day on the “united” states. Republicans can have all the states rights they want while progressive states - I mean countries - continue to work together.

Woke: scientific research based on hadrons and forensics

Broke: slapping a band-aid on a cancerous brain tumour then being force fed asbestos endorsed by SCOTUS and Your “Wise And Caring” Conservative Leader!

It’s not a war on woke. It’s a war on science.

So the headline should be “The war against science coud end US science as we know it.” Well yeah, that’s the point of it.

    More treasonous sabotage.

All of this stuff could have been easily predicted before this asshole was elected, by the way.

I want to yet again give a big shout out to the both-sidering jagoffs, most especially those with a huge megaphone, that insist on acting like both parties are two sides of the same coin. Which is just bullshit to enable Republicans to do yet more damage.
