I stopped drinking alcohol (wine was my tipple) at about sixty yrs old. I was never a heavy drinker but I could see that the amount was increasing. Living alone I started going from one glass with dinner to two, to three, and so on. It was pretty clear what was happening. So I stopped clean. I don’t regret it. The first two weeks alcohol free were challenging but after that it became easier.
It’s helped me save money and from feeling sluggish etc. Every now and again I miss the taste and the other sensations a decent wine gave me, but not enough that I’d go back. My body feels better. The article gives similar stories. It’s not an article about the illness of alcoholism. There is a link to another article on ‘Tips for moderating your alcohol intake’ if you are interested.
