According to TravelMath that is a 7.5 hour trip driving. I don’t know what multiple plane tickets cost but driving has got to be cheaper, especially splitting gas among several people. Take away the hour delay, checking through security (do they still recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours early?), finding your luggage, renting a car - I don’t see driving taking very much longer than getting on a plane.
Well… they weren’t expecting this to happen, of course.
do they still recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours early?
Idk who “they” are but I was always taught 1 hour for domestic and 2 hours for international and it has never failed that I can recall, even amid this administration’s multiple airport crises, and I’ve flown a lot recently.
Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t encounter delays (I even had a 14-hour overnight delay or something monstrous like that, and several 2-to-4-hour delays and an entire reschedule to the next day), but they were never due to me not arriving early enough versus an issue with the plane, airport computers, weather, or runway.
