ZacPreece_CIG responded to a question on Spectrum about getting LAMP for Helmet Visors:
Intention is to get them on visors eventually but it was decided to focus on cockpit LAMP first, taking the scope shader and making it work for ships.
Main reason was we didn’t want people having to wear certain FPS helmets to get LAMP for their ships as well as having things like MFDs be blown out and various other tidbits.
Intention is down the line to get a visor option

Night vision on helmet
What about night vision for DRAKE DRAGONFLY ?
What about night vision for TUMBRIL CYCLONE ?
What about night vision for battle turrets ?
What about night vision on ARGO MOLE mining turrets ?
What about night vision for FPS combat ?
It would be so much simplier to have night vision implemented on all helmet… one dev, all use cases covered.

I hope CIG doesn’t start blocking Reshade soon. I think it’ll still be more useful for 3rd person landing, even if it is kind of cheating. If we had proper landing lights I’d then I’d drop reshade night vision.
I definitely agree with the decision here to implement LAMP on ship glass. It looks awesome to open the canopy on a ship and still see the effect.
I also want it for helmet visors, but I do want there to be a path for people to be able to enjoy flying around wearing regular clothes as well.
We need more glasses and eyewear in general and this is a good reason to add some. Once suit lockers are a thing, I’m spending as much time in street clothes as possible.
For my own play, I’d prefer it require some kind of gadget (scope, helmet, or monoculars) but I can just chose to not use any LAMP glasses.
Simple solution: Make it a toggle.
It already is a toggle though? I believe what QuadratureSurfer meant was that it’s good they started with adding it to ship canopies instead of requiring flying in helmets.
