Now it doesn’t make any noise and turns smoothly. Feels good.
you didn’t mention which lubricant, hope it wasn’t WD40, as people tend to grab it for these things, but the solution usually ends being temporary

I used this, no WD40 😊
Did that run in okay? Lithium grease is usually quite chunky. 3 in 1 do a standard oil which I use for doors. Lithium grease is something I normally use on the car.
Works great! Very liquid. Didn’t put much of it, no chunks to report. I probably will have to clean a bit in a couple of weeks.
What else are you supposed to use?
Liquid Wrench is pretty good.
Molybdenum disulfide is really good
A lubricating oil. I like ProTecta.
How about anything with the word “lubricant” in it. The WD stands for Water Displacement, so it was designed to displace water, which it does. It also kinda lubricates, but it’s far from being a good lubricant.
I feel like water based lubricant wouldn’t go so well with hinges
If you don’t feel like going to the store, petroleum jelly is a half decent solution for squeaky door hinges. Lasts quite a few years too.
You can just use olive oil; works great.
It won’t seap down?
Exactly. Just yesterday I had to recommend someone use an actual lubricant for a lock…
Isn’t graphite powder normally the best solution for locks?

What you’re saying is true in general but it works pretty well and for a fairly long time in door hinges.
All solutions are temporary bro.
It’s always a joy to do that, especially if the door is frequently used. All of a sudden your surroundings get a lot nicer.
I keep meaning to do this with my front door and haven’t. I should go do that… Later tho.
I did this with my garage door the other day. The thing squealed like crazy since we bought the house and I didn’t really know how to fix it. Got some White Lithium Grease and just sprayed it into all of the hinges, greased the top rail and tightened the chain. I just love that I don’t have to cringe every time I’m about to press the button to open the door.
Beautiful. A smooth-opening door is like a well-oiled machine. That’s not quite a machine.

Waxing a sticky zipper is also satisfying
Nice, I like to get all the keyholes like once a year too, makes a noticeable and nice difference
Hi, I’m a Squeaky Door ;)
