Huh, neat. Ive never seen that disc before. FWIW, i had 3 different 360s, but I dont remember which ones i would have used Og xbox games on. Likely my first one- it was the original larger style that was prone to RROD, but was purchased a few years after the 360 had been released. My other two were the later slim version. I dont have specific model numbers…the only 360 i still have has been in storage for a few years now in a different country, so i couldnt even go mess with right now if i wanted to 😅

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I would like to know what native English speakers think of my writing?
10·9 days agoI thought your ‘f’s were ‘t’s until i saw your ‘t’s. The tops of ‘d’ and ‘b’ could be longer to look less like ‘o’. Otherwise, very sharp!

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on itEnglish
10·9 days agoGold doesn’t exist anymore. Now it’s game pass core or something…the rate went up with that forced “migration”. You do get access to a few “free” games with core, but you gotta pay way more to have the full deal. I think core (which is the cheapest, baseline option) is $70/yr now? (Edit- i just checked my statement, it’s $78.50)
That’s what the current gen xbox one and series do- disc for reference, download actual game. The 360 playing older OGs still plays from the disc without download/internet. ….at least that’s been my experience. Last time i used my 360 to play OG xbox games there was no internet or downloads involved.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"Flushable wipes"; "dishwasher-safe"; "odourless" - What are some other blatant lies that companies get away with?
351·1 month agoLabeling that says “Made with xxxxx” for example “Made with 100% all white chicken!” ‘WITH’ is the key word here. The item might be only 3% chicken and 97% other junk, but that 3% of chicken is 100% all white! This isnt just food items, could be cleaning supplies, or a lot of other things too. ‘Made of xxxx’ could be better, or ‘Made 100% with/of’….
Dang, i miss my sidekick. That thing was awesome.
Dooo it. This game is such a mind trip!
The original comment we replied to opened with- “Welcome to the majority of AMERICAN…” so I don’t know where you got the idea there was any assuming.
Required? In the states? Nah. My last house in the states was built in 2000, not a single balancing valve or thermostatic valve in the place. 4 bed 2.5 bath.
Not just the states….im in a (rented) house in Germany that was built in the 90s (so not that old to compare to a lot of other houses here) and deal with this everyday. Coupled with the insanely long cleaning times and frequency of use due to how small they are for the “economic” washing machines and dishwashers, fluctuating water pressure and water temps are always a surprise….

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There should be a "last used combination" faucet handle for sinks so you don't have to balance hot and cold everytime during winter
26·2 months agoMy super basic faucet handles are exactly that…you twist it left-right to set temp and tilt it up-down for pressure from off to full. We just leave it rotated wherever we like it for temp and tilt up to turn on each time to the desired pressure. Our water pressure is always variable, so the amount tilted up varies, but the “rotational temp” almost never needs changing. There’s no fancy thermostatic valve in these like some shower have. There’s even those fancy kitchen sink faucets that remember everything and you just tap them with your hand and they automatically turn on/off to your settings of temp and pressure. I think they are called “touchless faucets”. Pretty sure even Ikea sells one.
I feel like sink handles like mine are super common, too. I’ve had similar ones in the states and in Europe…

Climate@slrpnk.net•Iowa City Made Its Buses Free. Traffic Cleared, and So Did the Air. | Ridership jumped, people cut back on driving and, over the summer, the city extended the program another year.7·2 months agoThat’s how it is in a lot of places in Europe, i think anywhere outside of the bigger cities. The bus routes where i live in Germany are all once an hour. Gets less often at night on weekends, but we still pay for them.
Im in Europe (Germany) and i definitely noticed both the huge AWS outage that was not long ago and today’s Cloudflare drop….
Everything looks and works fine for me on iOS. There isnt left/right buttons for my discovery queue, i just swipe left/right and it scrolls through…🤷

Technology@lemmy.world•Here’s what ads on your $2,000 Samsung smart fridge will look likeEnglish
3·3 months agoYea, i pretty mich agree with all your points. Made me think of a situation with my neighbor a few months ago- one of their kids left the fridge door slightly open when they left. I think for a weekend trip or something, just enough that everything had spoiled. Lots of meat, too, so they had a blast with that. Some sort of push notification might have helped or prevented that, but otherwise…nah. Dont need nor want any of that always connected, smart, online, wtf ever mess.

Another one of these with no Win 95…😩
But still kind the same…the guys i know that are into watches dont buy just one and done. They are collectors. Like one for each type of outfit almost. So this could compare to buying numerous car parts. And there’s always the unobtainable dream watch that probably costs as much as a nice car…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever traveled outside of America? (Not to Canada or Mexico)
10·4 months agoYup. American living in Germany for 2.5 years now, been traveling all over EU and UK…the world is a huge place and there’s a LOT of people. Most of them never think about the states and will never have any reason to. Germany may not be my favorite place, especially since i really struggle with the language so i know i dont fully understand a lot of things here. But the EU in general has a lot of things going way better.
With that said…everywhere always has its own issues as well. The grass isn’t always completely greener, if you will.

Cant do that on devices that arent running browsers, or browsers capable of extensions/add-ons. Like games consoles…my xbox would be the only device on my network relying on a VPN for this and other things that my pi-hole cant block.
