The community at large stopped buying games on disc. Evidently to the point Sony feels confident enough to axe them entirely without too much noise. So far it seems to me they are right, I don’t really see the public outrage you can get with other controversies like the launch state of some games.

And why wouldn’t they honestly, this has been pretty much the reality in the PC landscape since the PS3 era and also XBOX is also already pretty much there.

And yeah, technically on the PC there is “comptetition” in terms of other digital storefronts but it’s mostly the publisher that decide where you buy their game, not you. So in practice it’s highly debateable how much that actually works as proper competition for the consumer. In practice you just have a bunch of extra bloat installed…

You might not have that competion on the Playstation, but Sony is now going to have to keep the Playstation interesting to people without offline disc deals people could score elsewhere, we’ll see how they manage…

Is wikipedia biased or are the facts just generally not in favor of the right wing side of politics? Is wikipedia rejecting right wing sources or does right wing media just have a higher than average tendancy to cater to public opinion with “editorial liberties”?

This is not the first time I hear people essentially brand wikipedia as left wing, but it would be the first time somebody actually proved that sentiment with some examples that proves factual right wing sources are actively rejected.

I have no problem with the idea that reality and therefore wikipedia could be left leaning, but that’s only a problem if it’s forced to look that way. I don’t think it is.

Bicycles aren’t just “fun”

People use then to get places. Like to get to work, to make deliveries, to pickup kids from school, etc.

Where did I suggest otherwise? I commute over 200km’s a week on a bicycle myself.

You need to plan for people traveling on bicycles at traveling speeds. And that includes signage and traffic lights so that cyclists don’t have to brake at every intersection.

What difference does it make braking for lighting or signage that orders you to do so, or an unmarked intersection?

Accelerating with a cargo bicycle full of groceries every block is a huge decrease to efficiency

I do weekly groceries on an unassisted cargo bike and this really just isn’t a real problem. The stopping an starting.

Depends on the wheelchair. The manual spinny with your arms ones, sure. They should be on the sidewalk. But there’s plenty of options that have no problem moving at a pace that makes way more sense on a bike path than on a sidewalk and this is plenty safe.

It’s always funny to see people die a little bit on the inside when you point out that the overwhelming majority of the energy their car consumes is spent on moving it around, rather than them.

I get that that grabbing a bicycle just isn’t an option for a lot of distances but if everybody just moved to a motorcycle or legitimately small car in the cases whey they just move themselves around, this would already solve a non trivial amount of problems we currently have in terms of resource usage and traffic density.

Where I live people know what to do on an entirely unmarked road and/or intersection just by what they are driving/riding on.

Most of these rules just boil down to not being an absolutele prick by the way. Doing 40 on a bike lane unless stopped by a sign, and not, say, situational reality (like seeing a crossing coming), would be exactly that.

Unfortunately some other big cities in the Netherlands still need to wake up to the idea cars aren’t a sustainable focus towards the future when it comes to local transport.

You can’t draw any conclusions on console sales alone. I also bought the disc version, despite predomenantly buying digital releases.

It’s more expensive but not that much more expensive. The difference was in the ballpark 50 bucks or so. On a 500 to 700 euro or so purchase (by the time you add a controller, charging stand, games etc.) this is peanuts.

I didn’t buy the disc version because I needed it for physical games, I bought it to have the option.

Yeah. It looks good for a picture, all that super tight cable management, but really your cables are plenty managed if you can just get something out of the middle of the rack without having to unplug things.

Got into linux on the server side before I seriously looked at the desktop side. Run a mix of Ubuntu, Debian and what used to be CentOS but is now Almalinux in this space.

On the desktop started fiddeling with Ubuntu at first, but first distro I actually used was Mint. Tested a lot of them over the year, can’t bothered to list them.

Mainly just use Fedora (KDE).

Taking people to court over a plumbing bill is not a thing here. And even if you make a point of not paying it they’ll just take it out of your deposit and then it’s you that’ll have to fight them over those 200 bucks or so. Who has time for that crap.

Also the practicality of it. Blaming previous tennants might fly if you’ve just started living there, but there’s no way that is a reasonable defense after two years.

The whole idea of willingly causing damage somewhere and somehow not being held accountable for it because it’s not your property is wild.

If you have your landlord send a plumber to declog a drain clogged by a bunch of grease or wet wipes or some other garbage that shouldn’t go down the drain there’s no way you won’t get the bill for that where I live.

There’s renters protection but not against your own acts of misuse.

I use AI regularly and routinely for practical stuff and automation, it’s just in the art department where I really start to take issue with it’s use, because if the nature of what art is to me.

I have used it for graphical stuff and I feel getting from an AI exactly what you want is about comprable to getting from another human what you want.

At least in the way you interact with it.

I understand it can be extremely complex once you need to generate really specific stuff that for example also fits a cirtain style and not just “a guy in a cyberpunk city leaning against a car” or something like that, but all the same you stop being an actual artist and you start becoming more of a manager.

So I’m not trying to say prompting isn’t a skill, I just don’t think it (the output) will every qualify as an artistic work.
