I run Manjaro on a 2010ish Dell XPS 15 without a single issue. Haven’t used it in a while, because I got a 2012 MBP that was lighter to carry and put Kubuntu on that, but last time I used the XPS it was fine.
This is less an issue of proprietary hardware and more user competence IMO

I haven’t, I run a Windows desktop, Linux desktop, Windows laptop, and Linux laptop (was a Mac OS laptop but Apple EoL’d it, so I am looking at a Mac Mini M4 Ultra or M5 if they release one next year). I am OS agnostic though.
