Damn that’s crazy. The more I learn about Real ID the more pointless it starts to seem. Wasn’t easy to get one either!

Real ID is valid…I think. It’s supposed to be anyway. Probably won’t stop them from getting violent with you if they feel like it though.

Apple@lemmy.zip•iOS 26 installations lower than anticipated?English
2·24 days agoI have an iPhone 17 so I really didn’t have a say on upgrading to iOS 26. I’ll just say it really has been kind of a visual nightmare compared to 18. Even with the reduce transparency stuff turned on, it makes my home screen icons look really dumb. Why does my dark icon theme have wonky looking half white borders around everything? It doesn’t just look ugly it honestly hurts my eyes too. I’ve been telling everyone I know to stay on iOS 18 as long as you can.

1·28 days agoAh thanks. Now I remember why I never used VanillaOS previously. I’ve been keeping my eye on bluefin-LTS though. Looks like a really interesting project. CentOS Stream based immutable distribution.

2·28 days agoDoes it use an LTS kernel like Debian or is it more like Ubuntu/Fedora?
They can build it in kilometers all they want. Plenty of people will still measure it in miles.

Linux@programming.dev•Nvidia is reportedly bringing official Linux support to GeForce Now soon, not just for Steam DeckEnglish
7·1 month agoThat’s an issue the entire industry will need to reckon with soon. I think gaming tech is going to sort of plateau and enter an optimization era. Was probably overdue for a correction anyway, but it’ll be painful for a while. It’s possible the Steam Machine will be delayed who knows. Or it’ll just be a hobbyist item until prices hit a tipping point and equalize.
Okay, that’s your prerogative. My only point is if you’re trying to organize working people, you’re going to realize pretty fast not all of them think exactly like you do.
I know Lemmy or any online space loves to see everything in black and white. From my experience, people are a lot more complicated than that. I’ve lived in both extremely rural areas and big cities. I’ve met good and honest people that were conservative and left leaning people that acted like toxic shitheads. Politics are important and it’s good to have values, but in certain relationships it’s best to just not hyper focus on it so much. Solidarity with fellow working class people is more important than agreeing on absolutely every single issue.

Looks pretty cool. Think I’ll wait until well after release to check reviews and observe quality control. But maybe someday I’ll pick one up.
It doesn’t really matter ultimately, but it takes me like 10 seconds to wash my hands. Peeing almost always takes longer.

Yeah if I remember right they can only get in trouble for firing you BECAUSE you’re part of a “protected class.” Like if they fire you for being a woman or being black, they can get in trouble for that. But if you just happen to be one of those things and they say they only fired you for almost anything else, you’re totally screwed.
