613·10 days agoI’d argue when advanced enough, they’d be able to replace search engines, do shopping for you, and automate some jobs. If they find a way to monopolize, I think they could. I don’t think they will, I think there will be a market bubble first. But some AI company at some point will definitely be able to replace/disrupt the market.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•MacOS is the worst Operating SystemEnglish
3·11 days agoThat thing with reverse scrolling on mouse vs trackpad was bugging me so fucking much it’s ridiculous. I had to download an app to handle this. So yes, completely agree on that point!

6·12 days agoI’d argue window management is a small part of the overall MacOS experience, and yes I agree that it sucks. However, with BetterTouchTool configured sensibly and raycast set up, I really like it.
A few things I really like about macos:
- you can download an app and just drag it into your apps folder. No installation required. You can also just use something like brew with
--caskParam then you don’t need to even download the app first - You can modify most settings programmatically
- CMD + , always opens settings in all apps
- The os (or hardware??) Is very energy efficient, I don’t have to worry about running out of battery
- I like the menu bar is always at the top of the screen, and when using the Search function under “help”, it shows me where to find the correct menu item so I don’t have to search again next time I need to find it

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•After being vaguely annoyed for months, I fixed an element
3·12 days agoAh, could be that too! On Danish ikea I can’t even see any non-induction. Although we also have some people that would always go for gas here as well. Could be some EU regulation too?
I’m also really surprised of the cost difference: cheapest ikea option for 4 heating zone stovetop would be 1500 DKK + oven for 975 Dkk, totalling what is approx 400 USD. Would have thought US was wayy cheaper here

4·12 days agoInteresting. Wondering if it’s due to difference in the available voltage? AFAIK in Denmark our stovetops+ovens used to pull 380 volt but now I think a lot makes do with 230v.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Not one person has been arrested yet after the Epstein files were released ? Are 9-5s working 30+ years to keep their overlords rich?
9·13 days agoUh. Wow okay. like everyone else except people associated with Epstein, I’d like these people to be brought to justice. But justice takes time AND ACTUAL EVIDENCE. Guilty by association is not a thing in modern societies.

9·13 days agoWell again probably but not verifiable without a reasonable doubt. If you wanna institutionalise your association bias and kill them all anyways, I’ve heard North Korea has great frameworks for this sort of thing

184·13 days agoDo we have concrete incriminating evidence of wrongdoing? Like, even if you have written extensively with Jeffrey and visited his Island, that still doesn’t prove that you’re guilty of anything. I think probably you are, but it’s very difficult to prove.
Sure, you might even admit that you slept with women on the island - but again, how to prove that these women were not of consenting age, or that they were not on the island by their own free will?

112·13 days agoNK dont fear invasion because China would not want to run the risk of having US forces on their doorstep. And China would not want to deal with millions of NK refugees. Hence that’s likely an even bigger reason than nukes. Sure, nukes is also a really great deterrence, but even without they wouldn’t get invaded.

7·13 days agoAre these the “standard” to have in the US? In Denmark I feel like almost all stoves use induction, and I’ve never seen ones with this design here, but they seem pretty normal to have in US.
So you’re saying this is how I can become a 10x engineer?

2·15 days agoWow this is some shitty ai slop. Quite interesting how bad the Ni Hao (你好) is written

I’d imagine if instead of per 100000 inhabitants, we used per million kilometers driven, we’d see more comparable numbers across countries. US has far more vehicles per capita than Denmark where I’m living. I’d also imagine people spend longer time in traffic in US.
So I don’t think it’s that driving is more dangerous there, rather it’s that you’re more likely to be in a car at any given time if you’re in USA. If you measured bicycle accidents per 100000 inhabitants probably the stats would be switched for DK/US.
