Technology@lemmy.world•DuckDuckGo poll says 90% responders don't want AIEnglish
463·2 days agoI think LLMs are fine for specific uses. A useful technology for brainstorming, debugging code, generic code examples, etc. People are just weary of oligarchs mandating how we use technology. We want to be customers but they want to instead shape how we work, as if we are livestock

Firefox@lemmy.world•Mozilla [claims to be] building an AI ‘rebel alliance’ to take on OpenAI, Anthropic
5·3 days agoIt’s because they have taken too much of the economy for themselves. Too much wealth in the hands of too few. The wisdom of crowds dissipates and they move as much more of a herd, and more erratically. Things begin to swing from one shiny object to another more quickly, with nothing to keep their greed in check

222·3 days agoServo is new web engine that Mozilla was building with Rust. Both Servo and Rust were initially developed by brilliant Mozilla engineers, cast aside by their incompetent, corrupt leadership and only thrived when they were unyoked from Mozilla, where good ideas go to die

6·5 days agoSorry, it’s not going to happen. Moderation does not mean ‘happy happy joy joy, insulate you from the world around you’. I don’t think three articles about the leading topic in global news is too many. The majority of our users agree (we’ve had no complaints other than yours and those articles are also the most upvoted). I suggest that you found your own community: ‘Wikipedia_nopolitics’. We have had multiple people split off and make their own wikipedia communities when they’ve had different objections and we welcome it; another benefit of the fediverse. Best of luck to you.

5·5 days agoI would advise if you’re feeling overwhelmed to use some of the plentiful filter tools built into Lemmy and its associated apps. This is a major benefit of the fediverse in general. But in these times we have a duty to allow folks to have a voice. -the mods

4·8 days agoI was going to work to integrate this recent piece into the wiki, where the researcher mentions another unusual aspect of the toxin aside from the specificity of the hallucinations, is that the effects last way longer than is usually seen for psilocybin.

2·12 days agoEh in my pretty touristy hotel I was not able to use Google or Meta sites on wifi. But I was surprised vpn worked and allowed me to access anything I wanted over wifi. I had prepared with shadowsocks configured as a contingency but didn’t end up needing it. But people visiting a year earlier had reported vpn did not work for them.

133·12 days agoThey can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Everyday Iranians know what the world outside is like. They can’t suddenly become a black box like North Korea. But maybe a few decades of murdering protesters, like mowing the grass, will allow them to limp along in the East German model. Where people know what is available outside but are too afraid and demoralized to make an organized resistance

I ate a lot of good food when I visited the UK. Honestly anyone who claims <place> has only bad food has a skill issue.
