Wouldn’t bother with Mint, the ui is OK but I had package conflicts arise when I was running it in the past. Ubuntu or Debian if your hardware is old enough are both better choices.

One problem with it is that deleting a file in Syncthing may also delete it on other machines. And a backup solution will keep multiple versions of old files which can be lifesaving if you make a bad edit.

It’s not as good as a proper backup solution but it’s definitely much better than nothing.

I think having a lot of questions is good actually. Even for signing up for a bilibili account, you have to answer a lot of questions to demonstrate that you understand certain things about the site. Compared to the amount of time that you are going to spend on the site, it’s really not that much and it cuts down a lot on bad quality content. You can think of it as an alternative to the way that somethingawful makes you pay some money to join the site. It requires time instead of money, which is good because we’re trying to cultivate an international and working class culture here.

Electricity is safer to cook with if the building has access to it. Small counter top induction hobs and electric pressure cookers are pretty safe these days especially in comparison to anything with an open flame.
