6·1 day agothe meta x-files story was convoluted hogwash all the way through. they should have stuck to a strictly episodic formula.

8·5 days agono offense friend, but you don’t need a historian to debunk this nonsense. Clearly lies from people in denial of their heritage.
there was no kkk “before all the racist crap”. it started directly because of racist crap after the civil war. look at the questions in the prescript from 1868:

6. Are you in favor of a white man’s government in this country?

12·6 days agoglaxy brain musk’s comments don’t even have anything to do with wokeness, they are just superficial bullying and nitpicking.
Maybe Thok’s health is perfectly fine for a Klingon-gem haddar hybrid.
Maybe Rork (who is not fully human) has a complication that makes lasik an unnecessary risk for her. Like the fact that she’s 400+ years old. People do still age and die in the 29th century.

Television@piefed.social•‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Creator on Premiere’s Shocking ‘Game of Thrones’ Poop SceneEnglish
3·6 days agoyeah i agree about the shit scene. I’m not opposed to poop jokes by any means, but this one didn’t land for me. I get the intent to set the vibe early and break from GoT (the cut away from the GoT theme song was a nice editing choice), but without setup it just felt abrupt instead of subversive. The “execution” of it was also a bit too cartoony compared to the rest of the episode.
Anyway, I also enjoyed the rest of the episode.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ed Zitron on big tech, backlash, boom and bust: ‘AI has taught us that people are excited to replace human beings’English
8·7 days agomy point is what we “should be” excited about is being released from monotonous work in exchange for universal basic income, so we wouldn’t feel the need to be reduced to servants. obviously that isn’t going to happen, but that’s the utopian dream.

science@lemmy.world•In a study of identical twins, Stanford researchers have found that a vegan diet improves cardiovascular healthEnglish
41·8 days agoNonsense, plenty of vegan foods high in carbs, sugar, and fats are more calorie dense than lean protein.
Anyway increasing calories in a vegan diet isn’t the only option available. they also could have reduced the calories in the omnivore diet by reducing carbs and fats, increasing fiber, etc. they gave the omnivore twins a larger calorie intake for no reason.

112·8 days agowhy would you go through all this effort to eliminate variables with identical twins and then not also control caloric intake between the different diets? they fed these people fixed meal plans for 4 weeks, of course the group consuming fewer calories are going to lose more weight etc.

lol right before the superbowl ain’t gonna happen. and this will all be forgotten by the time next season rolls around.
