A grain is just an old system of weight. 1 grain is about 64 mg. I was tested on grain based dosages in school but never saw them used in real life.

1·2 days agoI think this is another drug that reduces amyloid plaques (that’s what the other nad+ drugs purport) That model of Alzheimer’s is under scrutiny currently after one of it’s main guys was going to be fabricating results. I’m no neurochemist though so maybe this one does things a little differently.

41·2 days agoYour understanding is the one I was taught throughout university but there is a competing vision where saturated fats aren’t bad. The people who talk about the evils of seed oils tend to believe this. I haven’t looked into it in a few years but there are lots of internet doctors/health influencers who can walk you through the reasoning if you are interested. I didn’t find the arguments too compelling but I’ve also been bored of extreme diets for a bit so I may be biased.

91·2 days agoLow estradiol in men is generally treated with testosterone replacement though. Since testosterone is processed into estradiol in the body, the effects of the low estradiol listed above are pretty much the same as low testosterone. In most (there are edge cases and iatrogenic causes of course) men the lower levels of estradiol are d/t low testosterone levels.

4·3 days agoDamn TIL. I’ve lived and worked in 25% of the (contiguous) states and did not know that was a thing. I was so annoyed when I moved to a place with a neighborhood box. There have been times when I’ve liked using PO boxes, like when I’ve lived in areas where everything got stolen all the time, but I’d hate for it to be my only option.
