This is the most harmful rhetoric to a resistance movement that I can imagine. You’re literally saying that people organizing themselves to force radical change have no power or ability to succeed.

Resistance does not look like a witty sign. It looks like community self defence, direct action, union organizing, general strike, and the miriad other methods that have been historically successful against authoritarian and oppressive regimes. These are the methods being used by organizers in Minneapolis today.

No, it takes militant direct action. Liberal protests are toothless sign waving performances, but radical protest movements have over 100 years of history showing exactly what methods will force regimes to recognize the power of The People.

The UAW has been advocating for smart and strategic use of tarrifs to strengthen the US auto industry since NAFTA first became a thing in 1994. Their priority has always been the wellbeing of auto workers, and their stance on tarrifs has been consistent for 30+ years.

NAFTA and other so called free trade agreements have been a tool of the capitalist class to export manufacturing jobs to the global south. The UAW does not support Trump’s tarrif plans because they do not support blind tarrifs without a plan in place to ensure the costs of those tarrifs aren’t passed down to consumers and workers. Their stance has always been that the companies make plenty of money to absorb the cost of tarrifs or otherwise return manufacturing to the US, which is their ultimate goal.

This is a statement of solidarity with the people of Minnesota and with the strike action tomorrow. I dont understand what your problem is with a union expressing solidarity.

The New Black Panther Party is a separate organization completely from The Black Panther Party for Self Defence that got media attention recently. There’s several other small local Panther orgs around the country with different rules regarding non-black members. If you’re looking for an org that allows people of any race/color/creed, the United Panther Party may be your jam.

The United Panther Party is another small modern Panther org. The UPP is mixed and Anarcho-Pantherist in political philosophy.

There was also the White Panther Party back in the 60s-70’s formed mostly of white college kids following the Panther model. Essentially a more explicitly revolutionary alternative to SNCC, which was itself highly influential in the anti-war movement at the time.

These days there are several Panther groups doing smaller scale community self defence and mutual aid across the country, many of them led by second and third generation Black Panthers.
