I stopped playing for the most part about 5-6 years ago but would still look at spoiler season for interesting cards (I played commander almost exclusively). I stopped keeping up at all when it became evident that universes beyond was just gonna be MTG going forward.

Hannibal would trounce the Romans on the field, but he didn’t have the capability for a long term siege. His goal was to get the cities of Italy to throw in their lot with him. Another issue was the Carthagnaginian senate didn’t really support Hannibal. His dad basically ruled Spain with Carthage rubber stamping it to get this veteran general out of the city. As far as I know they were wary to support his son as well.

I’ve met probably a dozen people who call themselves independent and when you get to know them they are indistinguishable from Maga dudes. I think it’s a way for people who don’t like being called racist/homophobic/ etc but fully support those policies to distance themselves.
