As nix is also a source based package manager, you can also just disable the binary caches and have everything compile on machine! I don’t think you would get of the benefits of compiling it for your hardware though due to the sandboxing of the build environment.

2·6 months agoLess than Open AI’s o3, but that’s because o3 was estimated to use even more power than GPT 5’s 18 Wh per query.

5·6 months agoFor training yes, but during operation by this studies measure Deepseek actually has an even higher power draw, according to the article. Even models with more efficient programming use insane amounts of electricity
This was higher than all other tested models, except for OpenAI’s o3 (25.35 Wh) and Deepseek’s R1 (20.90 Wh).
For people using hyprland, you can get the same functionality as xkill by running
hyprctl kill, I have it bound to a shortcut for easy access
I thought of the VR shooter Pavlov shack first.

2·2 years agoTailscale makes it realy easy to connect your pihole remotely (it even has a guide on how to set it up here), and has the aded bonus that you can get it to point to your pihole’s DNS without having to touch any router settings if that has been an issue for you :)
Oh I love your wallpaper, do you have a link to somewhere I can download it?

News@lemmy.world•Satanists to volunteer in Florida schools in protest at DeSantis religious billEnglish
725·2 years agoIt’s a shame people are downvoting this, the satanic temple has ties to the far right and is not the great thing people think it is. They make bold claims to get news attention and donations but don’t follow through with action, and in the case of abortion rights claim that joining the temple will grant religious immunity when this is in fact false and actively harmful. Overall they distract attention from real activism without taking any real action. Watch the video essay in the parent comment to get the full picture.
This seems to be similar to what the Reticulum network is, it is a peer to peer network stack designed to work over any medium including lora, packet radio, wifi and anything else you can think of.

0·2 years agoThis sounds interesting, but how do you plan on stopping illegal content being stored on users devices? If there is any chance a user could unknowingly be hosting illegal content that could lead to some very big issues.

I’ve not noticed a difference to the battery life in reality but in theory the panel should use a watt less at max brightness (4.1W with the stock N140FGE-EA2 vs 3.1W max on the new one), but also has almost double the brightness so does not need to be ran as high. The main difference is with the colours, the new panel covers 71% of the NTSC colourspace where the other only covers 47%. Plus IPS displays just have much better viewing angles so doesn’t need to be viewed straight on.
