Especially idiotic since the freedom idiots were the ones waving around Canadian flags, to the point that during the convoy I assumed anyone with a Canadian flag was an asshole.
I feel that the symbol has been taken back recently though.

Indeed.
I was referring to the possibility of Canada making trade deals with China, which is causing Trump to get butthurt and threaten tariffs.
Of course not everything we trade with China will be consumer goods, but some parts of a trade deal may include consumer goods, which may overlap with similar goods we buy from the US, which are all made in China anyway. Hence cutting out the middleman.

I can attest to this from personal experience. I once worked on a product that I designed in Canada. All the parts were manufactured in China. The only thing done in the US was putting in the five screws to hold it all together. That was enough to earn it a cute little stars and stripes sticker.

Everything we buy from the US is made in China anyway, so we’re just cutting out the middleman.
If we can eliminate US IP protection next then we can build our own technology and do away with them completely.

I’m one of those nerds and really looking forward to the Steam Frame. It’s been a while since I’ve been actually excited about something and it’s a nice feeling.

I wonder if there’s little interest in VR or just little interest in buying Meta’s shit.

I had to check the URL several times to verify I wasn’t reading an article on The Onion.
Check out Audacious which supports Winamp skins.
When I was growing up I was told capitalism was great because we all get a high standard of living and had lots of inexpensive stuff to buy. Look at how poor Russians were during the Soviet era!
Now I’m being told that to sustain capitalism I need to live like a Soviet era Russian.

There are lots if people new to Lemmy and not everyone is aware of what really happens on the large platforms. Maintaining awareness is a good thing I think. Especially for new users it can affirm a choice to leave those platforms.

Don’t worry. Everyone knows that under capitalism anyone can open a shop to compete with lower prices for a slice of that pie.

This is clearly a global conspiracy orchestrated by GabeN to make the Steam Machine look better!
KMFDM sucks!

Unfortunately I didn’t clone the repository before it was taken down.

They recently put together a list of software that was built using AI and a bunch of AI people didn’t take too kindly to it. The list has since been taken down and Kat has decided to take a break from open source software.
Most of the people on the list seemed pretty reasonable and were engaging in conversation about it. But emotions did begin to flare a bit and things got a bit out of hand. There are some conversations on Bluesky you might be able to find, but I think Kat also removed their account so the conversations might appear very one-sided.
It’s a very unfortunate outcome I feel. There are people on both sides of the debate whom I respect, Kat included.

And when someone like Kat Marchán tried to raise awareness they get chased off the internet because an LLM did something OK a couple times.
Then that’s the fault of management. They’re supposed to be responsible for their team. That’s why they get paid the big bucks!
They should take responsibility, apologize, and move on. Claiming it was a mistake is childish and insulting.
