Political Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**
7·9 months agoYou don’t understand the intended message of this post. The people abstaining from voting because the ice cream is not vegan ARE the “both sides are the same, none will bring real change, that’s why I won’t vote/vote 3rd party” people that ultimately help steer the bus off the cliff. “Harm reduction” as used in this post is an argument for voting for the better of two realistic outcomes, even if that outcome doesn’t meet your purity standards. The point being that one option (bus driving off the cliff) is much much worse than the other.

1013·9 months agoSo you’d let the bus drive off the cliff because non-vegan ice cream doesn’t fulfill your standards for ice cream?

This gives me “old man yelling at clouds” energy.
I understood this reference.
You bringing up Russia/Ukraine out of nowhere in a thread about Israel/Iran? Absolutely!
Fair! I was following your example though :)
Feel free to call out these comments when you encounter them and provide nuance. I will keep trying to do the same :)
So why are you putting words in other people’s mouths? So you have something to argue against that wasn’t even brought up earlier?
Funny how tankies always think “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. They have no capacity for nuance.
Nobody said that.

2·9 months agoYou have to go through a check and have your luggage scanned upon entering a train station, and then go through another check before reaching the platforms.
However, the luggage scans seemed like a security theatre, and the main purpose of the checks seemed to be tracking people, since they were scanning passports.

2·11 months agoI am expecting the incoming government to do a much worse job than the outgoing one, regarding actually addressing the underlying structural problems that led us here.

1·11 months agoBut you guys need to counter the hateful messaging against immigrants with an equally effective message against the people with power/money, otherwise, fascism is likely to win in the long run against neoliberalism […]
This is exactly it. However, I am not too optimistic about centrist politicians/media/society coming to that conclusion. We are complacent and scared and would rather keep our heads in the sand and blame minorities instead of addressing the underlying structural issues.
