10·3 months agoWhile I don’t think it’s good to encourage what is basically glorified gambling, it was mental to watch from the sidelines the crazy shit people did on there pre-GME. After that it all went a bit conspiratorial and “get rich quick!”…

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Somehow *this* is what's going to convince me to distro hop.
8·4 months agoEasily the biggest downside rn. The scattered/lack of documentation has been the biggest hurdle for me getting into NixOS, especially after being spoiled with the arch wiki.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which album was a band's creative zenith/magnum opus before falling off?
7·2 years agoI agree that Songs for the deaf is QOTSA’s magnum opus, but majority of their other albums are bangers too and it feels unfair to say they fell off after it
Ok but what about Irn Bru, it’s gotta be just under water
The most obvious answer to this is the halting problem.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•I came across this neat tool: A web app that allows you to download Guitar Pro files from Songsterr, and Ultimate Guitar
5·2 years agoIdk about ultimate guitar, but on songsterr there is already a button to do that. If you first press the latest revision date:

It’ll bring up the revision history, each version having a download link.

It’s useful to have revisions in case someone changes the fingering somewhere and you prefer the older version.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some of your, "If I like this, what else might I like" questions?
7·2 years agoHaving being obsessed with QOTSA for half a year or so, I moved too some of Josh Homme’s other project: Them Crooked Vultures, and Desert Sessions.
Other artists I would recommend are Wolfmother, Death From Above 1979, and Royal Blood.
If you want something thats a bit more rythmicly and melodically playful, I would highly recommend most albums by the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. Their two most recent releases I haven’t enjoyed so much, but the rest is golden. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is good of you find the right albums. Personally I really like Nonagon Infinity, PetroDragonic Apocalypse, as well as their microtonal series of albums: Flying Microtonal Banana, KG, and LW.

There’s a great video by Alexander the ok on this exact topic for those that want a deeper dive into the history and development! https://youtu.be/YpruA5mC7wg
