Tough guy, LOL.
Couldn’t walk off that protected cat-walk fast enough. Threw a middle finger over his shoulder even though he was surrounded by his own retinue of armed guards.
Hilariously soft.

The factory worker has been interviewed, and he sounded exultant

Quirk of the video - he has a high power flashlight under the barrel, I think. Illumination looks like flash, but the lack of “flinch” tells me there was no loud sound when we see it.
Oh and they didn’t shoot 6 random bystanders, which I’m pretty sure they would.

Yeah, lived here most my life, and while I’ve never gotten stuck where I needed the assist, I am that stranger with a shovel.
For locals to not help is deeply non-normal and inhospitable behavior in the Midwest.

If I stop posting because I’ve been sent to camp, just know… I did it for comments like this <3

Man that website sucks.
Bahaha, thanks!
Yeah, I’ve got you, I think these links should work, but no guarantees if you’re blocking videos or whatever:

Most folks don’t buy self-driving anything. It’s about 12% for Tesla, and Tesla probably has the highest uptake rate: https://carbuzz.com/12-percent-tesla-owners-choose-full-self-driving/
For buying the base spec cars, Troy Teslike reports on that (i know more about Tesla off the top of my head, been doing research, their new average sale price has been cratering), and Tesla’s most popular models are the cheap ones. That’s important to folks like me because it kills profitability and so is newsworthy.
No judgement, that’s just the cards as they lay. I like knowing things, I’m a bit “special” that way, particularly for statistics.
Yeah, it’s a matter of taste on this vehicle being nice. Honestly? I’d get a lightly used Ioniq 6 for the same price, I like the Charger body shape, but if it’s equally fast, I think the 6 will be more reliable.

The Sheriff whose officers are presumably being trained that it is Bulletproof with a big B, that guy doesn’t know.
It’s an information-environment thing. If you go far enough to the right in the USA, you get a very different set of information sources.
Those information sources think the Cybertruck is bulletproof, because Elon said that it was (we actually talk about that piece in the article).

You seem to be misunderstanding the difference between MSRP and sales price.
MSRP is centrally or nationally set. Sales price is locally set.
Re-read the headline, you would have to misread what I actually wrote to get the understanding that you got out of it.

I appreciate you, Gollum, and I agree that that is a great video…
… Which is why that video is linked in the article under the heading:
“Cybertrucks Are Not Bulletproof. Watch This Guy Shoot Holes in One to Prove It.”

You’re using a lot of weasel words for somebody who called me the lazy writer :)
What percent are accurate, do you reckon? Should I update my headline to show multiple EV Chargers for sale at less than 50% of their MSRP, or just the one?

I count 9 at or below 30K, and the 10th is 31K.

In the USA, military weapons are so plentiful that the army gives police old ones for free. That’s why police departments have ludicrous MRAPs and things, they’re freebies.
So, one billionaire bought another billionaire’s toys and handed them to a politically pliable sheriff, in the same spirit as a Roman patrician might throw a particularly theatrical weapon into the Coliseum fighting pit.

I’m generally a dickhead, so I investigated: Cybertrucks do not have a rain sensor, according to this thread where Cybertruck owners weren’t sure which doodad was their rain sensor: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/is-this-a-rain-sensor.35270/post-30486895
As for car wash mode, you’re definitely correct! Most EVs have it, both to activate those quality of life features you mention (because EVs don’t natively have a neutral gear), but also to perform very important safety functions related to the vehicle electronics. I imagine, most EVs link those functions to the rain sensor or other moisture sensors as well.
Here’s one of the dozens of Cybertrucks that have been destroyed by a $5 touchless wash, LOL: https://www.flyingpenguin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/cybertruck-wash-dead-768x1377.jpg

I effing LOVE that there is a Car Wash Mode… because enough water to rinse soap off your car is enough to brick a Cybertruck.
And of course, it’s a mode because there is no rain sensor. So it’s not like with all the tech and software and apps, it can protect ITSELF from a light spritzing. You need to be constantly on-guard, otherwise your “bulletproof” truck might permanently brick itself because it was exposed to water XD
That’s right - I just read up on it so y’all don’t have to :)
It’s one of the many smoke grenades that create colorful smoke, the chemicals in a smoke grenade aren’t awesome, but it’s not CS gas or tear gas or anything that is specifically designed to hurt you.
