I just want to point out that something being “natural” does not inherently make it ok. Killing other creatures of the same species (murder) is “natural”, rape is “natural”, stealing is “natural”.

The entire point of ethics/morality is to distinguish between the natural things which we find good, and the natural things we find bad and want ourselves and others to stop doing.

My point being that if you want to defend eating meat as morally ok, you should do so without the “appeal to nature”.

  • I agree with many people ITT that overuse of blocks could create echochambers, however I still think that blocks are an underused feature of social media. These days much online content is not designed for discourse, it is designed for engagement. Rage bait, over sensualisation, even trolls farming frustration for their hit of endorphins. These are the kinds of people (and content outlets in general) which should be blocked.

But to be clear, not everyone who disagrees with you is a troll, or trying to rage bait.

  • Ok interesting, thanks for the answer. I’m also curious what exactly “community” envisions? Does it just refer to existing towns/cities/city divisions? Or would it be necessary for the existing areas to be “broken up” into smaller, closer communities? My thinking is that in large cities there are often a huge number of people, and yet very little sense of community between them, so I am doubtful how well a community driven system could scale?
