Giving Futurama my first watch and all of the memes are conveniently in season 1, so far
Rewatched the show recently and literally the only thing she did wrong was be cringe and cheat in retaliation (which was, honestly, the only power move she had in the situation)
Meanwhile Walter’s constantly being the worst human filth imaginable and the living embodiment of “Just one more
lanecrime, bro, and everything will be good i SWEAR Jesse”
Tbf people often talk about boomers, or MLK, or JFK, or LSD, or south america, or say the word “covert” or
You can give it a style of speech. It can mimic anything. I saw one where it just responded: ‘OHMIGOD SAAAAMMMEEE 🥵🥵🤧🤧’ which… Is bizarre, but if youre texting it and coaching it daily it will pick up your habits
Yeah but thats also part of the problem, in many ways

1·20 hours agoI just dont really understand the point of this. Very rarely are telemarketers domestic or traceable. I get maybe 1-3 calls a year about an offer or something, and hundreds about overseas scams.
Critiquing Windows in memes like this are what lead me to daily drive linux. Memes are used as literal, proven and admitted, propaganda machines because they do work.
I do agree they have their places and this may not be one of them, however; once you’re here, youre probably already convinced “Google bad”

4·21 hours agoIts literally a shortcut in most IDEs. Throwing AI at it is like using an upside down lawnmower instead of a garbage disposal
Renting out a single family home for longer than 3 months at a time without living in it should be an actual crime, or at least extremely (50-80%) tax heavy (the taxes then going towards house subsidies). Owning an unoccupied home should be taxed even worse. A corporation can count as a single person, so a property management company can own a single house OR as many apartment complexes as they want before tax punishment.
The modern version of Airbnb as a business model (people owning 5+ houses to rent for daily prices often in excess of hotel prices with none of the hotel benefits + “cleaning fees”) should have millionaires hanging from trees.
I foolishly believe the above two policies alone would cut home prices by at least half.
My weekly 2 person household necessities are something like $175 USD for home prepped meals, cleaning supplies, charging my car, and shower goods. If i cut back on stuff like conditioner and some vegetables or meats for processed stuff, i think i could save maybe $20 extra a week (until more price gouging/tarrifs/electricity increases due to data centers/whatever.)
The cheapest house on offer within 30 miles (48.2 km) of my job is $78,000 for 576 square feet (53.51215 square meters? Idk how europe measures floor area).
So if i struggle quite a bit, in 75 years, geriatric me and my geriatric wife can live in an extremely tiny house (assuming its still on offer and still costs 78,000, and if i invested that money the stock market didnt crash and and and and)
(Math: $78,000 / $20/week = 3,900 weeks. 3900/52 weeks in a year = 75 years. Im begging for a progressive world-policing power to invade us and force us to have free healthcare/tax the billionaires/slash the defense budget/tax those with multiple owned houses to subsidize housing)
Lol. Lmao, even. The hero is needlessly aggressive to a person upholding the social contract. The clapping is coming from inside your head and under your desk.
I meant it negatively. If i saw a picture of Trump doing blue collar work, it would be performative (derogatory).
My point is that mamdani lives the performance, and therefore is, in reality, just a stand-up guy who is leading from the front lines.
A police officers time is something like 0.001% catching an actual criminal and 99.999% larping military action and harassing/threatening normal people. Sometimes it’s even misusing public funds to commit murder or stalk their ex. Theyre also much more likely to be domestically abusive.
“All cops are bastards” because the system is broken, allowing most cops to be bastards, and therefore participating in the system (even being a “good cop”) makes you, a bastard.
Am i calling the police if someone breaks into my house? Yes, after ive done all the work of removing the threat so i have a legal standpoint to file insurance claims or whatever. Thats the problem with the system. I cant trust a cop to not consider me to be the real threat or shoot me by accident.
There is no situation made safer by having a racist coward with a license to kill involved.

4·22 hours agoTbf I, as a software developer, find inefficient or unoptimized software to be unethical, as it worsens the problem of global warming by wasting electricity.
Take any triple A game, say it could be 20% more optimized with a month in the oven. Say 200,000 people play it for 4+ hours a day, and a patch is made as soon as possible (but the product needed released unoptimized).
We have wasted around 5 million compute-hours, which could be around 400 watts, so ~2 million kwh, or 2 gigawatts of electricity. That amount of electricity equates to about 52,000 gallons of gasoline. Now multiply that by every company that does the same thing, for every release…
(Math: 200,000 people x 4 hours x 20% (.2) = about 5 mill compute hours with rounding for the 4+ hours. 5 mill x 400 watts =~ 2 bill watts, 2 mill kilowatts, 2k megawatts, 2 gigawatt hours. 1 gallon of gasoline is about 33.7 kwh, so about 27,000 gallons for a gigawatt hour, we need two, 52000 gallons.)

4·22 hours agoThe usage is only half of the problem. Id argue it doesnt need to be used for references either; just take photos of yourself for poses, gymnasts for weird ones, body inspo if yours doesnt fit, google existing photos for landscapes, make your own references for more abstract ideas… We’ve made incredible art for centuries without stealing the work of thousands and throwing it into a math blender.
The main problem though is the training, which is necessary to improve AI, is very easy to fuck up (and thus waste a bunch of electricity for nothing), and necessitates stealing intellectual property forever.
Not to mention that anything I’ve ever seen anyone use AI for was NEVER a single prompt. Most thinking/reasoning models (read: the useful ones) require dozens of internal prompts, repeat prompts for clarification, etc etc.
Locally hosted LLMs are by far the most ethical way to use AI, but they still involve stealing, still produce insane amounts of waste through training, and still require significantly more electricity than an equivalent few dozen google searches (obviously excluding Google’s forced use of AI)
