  • I have studied the American revolution with a critical eye and I can definitely tell you that the “founding fathers” were the very definition of corporatism. They also ticked off all the bad things people usually associate with fascism as well. I go off Mussolini’s definition of fascism as opposed to scholars who don’t want believe their country is fascist.

Viking, 90% of all policies in every nation in the world are written by corporations. We live in a corporatocracy which is arguably the natural result of corporatism in the modern world.

I think you are imagining capitalism as the mythical “small business capitalism” when in reality it always leads to concentration of power hence the reality we live in. You can prove me wrong by showing me a capitalist practicing nation that doesn’t have an ever increasing wealth gap.

Capitalism leads to corporatism that leads to a corporatocracy. I also don’t buy into the “keeping it in check” belief that tries to condition us that capitalism will work under the right circumstances.

Of course it will work, by concentrating power leading to fascism like it already has. It will never be regulated into small business capitalism because that is just the larval stage.

  • Try heading down to a local Service Canada centre or a provincial employment hub. If there isn’t one in your town, just give them a shout on the phone. These places are there to help you out, I happen to work at a place like that myself.

You might also want to think about leveling up your education. These days, a general Bachelor’s degree can be tough to market on its own, especially in a field like psychology where you almost always need a Master’s or a PhD to actually practice.

Get out there and volunteer or just start chatting with people. Tell everyone you meet what you’re passionate about and that you’re looking for work. You never know who is hiring until you ask.

When it comes to your resume, get a second pair of eyes on it. Ideally someone who knows the industry. If your experience is a bit thin, stick to a one-page functional resume that highlights what you can do rather than just where you’ve been.

When you’re applying through online portals, use an AI tool to cross-reference the job posting and find the specific keywords or “buzzwords” that will help you get past the automated filters.

Don’t underestimate the skills you already have, either. If you’ve got retail experience and a degree, you’ve actually got a great foundation for a pivot into something like marketing.

For the interview, it’s all about the vibe and selling yourself. Practice talking about your wins with confidence and make sure you have solid, real world examples ready for their questions. Always have two or three good questions ready for them at the end so you look engaged.

Do your research before the interview. You should know as much as you can about them before talking (particularly if they have a mission statement).

Every job market is different. I live in a small town, but because it is a tourist hub it is more like a small city. Most jobs here are word of mouth and shaking the right hand, but a lot of the tourist jobs with the bigger shops are more corporate so you need to apply online.

Most importantly, don’t let this process get you down. Keep yourself moving, stay active, and do things that make you happy. If you’re not working right now, use that time to sharpen a skill or just better yourself in some way. It doesn’t really matter as long as you’re moving forward.

Also, keep in mind that if you’re dealing with any health issues or disabilities, there are specific Canadian programs and vocational rehab services designed to help folks find the right fit and get back into the workforce.

  • For sure, biggest arms dealer providing four times more weapons than the next biggest supplier (France I think).

Look at it this way, it is estimated that US sanctions alone caused roughly 500k more deaths than normal every year over the last 50 years. That is 25 million dead just because we don’t like other countries policies.

I don’t think there is enough time in the rest my life to cite every atrocity the US has committed since its inception. That is not even leaving time to actually think about them, just listing them all. It is pretty wild to think about.

  • I don’t think people realize how fantastically destructive the US army could be on a civilian resistance. It would be an absolute slaughter with mid air bursting rounds killing and entire room full of people once they breach a window.

Drone surveillance with no where to run or hide. Complete air superiority. Death would rain down constantly. The weapons of war are truly perverse. Think of the horror of cluster bombs with thousands of bomblets going off at once and hundreds later on for the next ten years randomly killing and maiming people.

To even suggest such horrors is beyond disgusting yet we have a President gleefully suggesting turning the army on his fellow countrymen.

  • Guns are more important than human life in the USA. Don’t believe me? We have lost 1.5 million Americans to gun violence in the last thirty years. That is more American citizens than all wars we have fought COMBINED… Crickets

Trump could molest a child that looks like his daughter standing in the middle of Fifth Avenue, pull out a gun, and execute her on live television for all to see and not lose a voter.

Trump mentions something negative about guns and voters threaten to leave his camp. That about sums up the insanity we are dealing with.
