Just switch to Zed and run a decent local model. If your vibe coding routine includes a loop through a roadmap doc or PRD then you can fill a few days working local models until Claude is back to fix their mistakes.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK Put the toilet cover down before flushing or else you risk the spread of fecal particles.English
163·13 days agoThe invisible particles that spread by air are not generally able to transmit disease because of their size, low concentration, and the short lifespan of pathogens surviving the airborne journey.
However, when you flush under a closed lid a MUCH higher concentration and long-lived pathogenic layer is deposited on the underside of the lid.
When you then sit down to shit, your shirt brushes against that moist underside of the lid behind you and THAT is much more dangerous as it moistens your garments and follows you back to your couch or bed.
Nobody watches the body during a cremation
Fascists set up clearnet rules like that.
The problem with everyone being identified is that fascists will also out themselves because they don’t find hate speech punishable online. However, they will find that it is fully punishable in the real world where their real fleshy bodies are doxxed by default.
There are WAY more anti-fascists than there are fascists offline.

Technology@lemmy.world•Switzerland bolted 5,000 solar panels onto a dam wall 8,000 feet up in the freezing Alps. The plant now makes three times more winter power than any farm down in the valleysEnglish
9·2 months agoHold out your hand flat, palm facing straight up. Now tilt it at any angle without going perpendicular to the ground, but let’s just use 45 degrees for example.
With your hand tilted backwards just a bit, but still facing upward overall, look across the room and you can predict where you would need to squat down to see the palm of your hand even if you were on the ground.
This shows light can travel in a straight line from that spot on the ground to the palm of your hand even though your palm is still facing upward overall, albeit at an angle of 45 degrees (and there is a spot on the ground that works at any angle, but the spot is farther away if the hand is tilted less).

Just let China have this “race”. I’m not afraid of being 2nd place. Who really cares about AI when it’s effect on the concrete world is so minimal and non-deterministic?
Wake me up when we can actually count on a robot making a delivery or stopping a criminal. Generating tokens isn’t doing shit in the real world.
When that is regularly happening without failure, we can just regulate the robots themselves.

World News@lemmy.world•Donald Trump says US will take over Cuba ‘almost immediately’English
3·4 months agoI don’t follow philosophical literature, but I almost 100% agree with that.
The only thing I would add is that modern American “liberals” are like the modern American “religious”. They vote for people who call themselves “liberal” and they call themselves “liberal” but they don’t read and they don’t really believe canonical “liberal” things if those positions do not serve them personally on issues they care about.
I do not believe there is a monolithic “liberalism”. To have a philosophical discussion about “liberalism” we have to paint in broad coalition strokes to stipulate that “liberals” are a cohesive group anymore(going back as far as I can remember, not just the last decade).
I think the prevailing popular realization is that both the Democrat and Republican parties are parties of the wealthy capital class and, importantly, that the wealthy capital class majorly overlaps with an unethical and violently extremist “Epstein” class.
Progressive candidates begrudgingly run under the Democrat banner while Libertarian candidates begrudgingly run under the Republican banner, but there is now a single “liberal”(read “change”) issue on the minds of the American electorate across both parties: Will the candidate bring the “Epstein” class to sufficient justice?
I think this single issue will override voting axes for a decade, beyond even questions about going to war or annexing another country.
I don’t think “liberalism” is a charade per se, I just think Americans are facing so many existential political problems that they have to prioritize and I’d wager they will prioritize voting for someone who will force Trump’s cadre of pedophiles to trial even if that someone is also annexing Cuba.

World News@lemmy.world•Donald Trump says US will take over Cuba ‘almost immediately’English
65·4 months agoI’m pretty sure invading Cuba during this Trump administration would result in the next(Democrat) administration following through with complete annexation and, I’d wager, the creation of a new US State of Cuba.
It may even result in Puerto Rico statehood and D.C. statehood simultaneously.
Because, by the time Trump is out of office, the news cycle will have moved all the way through outrage to regret to acceptance and finally to “what is the most humane thing to do now?”
Democrat liberal voters will conveniently conclude the most ethical path is to make more left-leaning states while they have the chance, because not doing so means the following elections lean rightward again and risk another Trump-like administration takes over.

18·6 months agoI believe if the ultra wealthy leave California, very little will change in the California economy.
If I’m wrong, they’ll just move to a neighboring state and prove me wrong.
If they prove me wrong, we will have two strong state economies and we can take it from there.
It’s not THAT big of a deal for regular Californians. Having multiple stronger state economies would be a good thing in the long term for our children anyway.

World News@lemmy.world•The Terrifying Revelation About Trump’s Strike on Iran Girls’ SchoolEnglish
2·6 months agoNo, it often cannot. That’s what I mean by “fully enclosed”, and I can see how you might have thought I just meant walls and no roof. I should have been more clear, but I was trying to differentiate between just having walls vs having full private enclosure for recreational spaces, which is common in Iran and also in a good chunk of other countries.
Schools or gyms often do have roofs as well, with vents or small/high windows for air circulation but no way to actually see inside because physical privacy is especially valued in Iran - not just because of the government but also because of cultural and religious traditions.

53·6 months agoIt is very common for buildings in Iran to be surrounded by high cement walls and fully enclosed courtyards, even private residences. This is partly due to their oppressive regime and a desire to keep having parties and generally normal private indoor lives.
