  • Naw you’re right, but I only meant that the most critical parts of our military we would need on our side are USN/USAF. While you are correct the US Army would be the most ideal force to hold land, this task could also be completed by NG or insurgency BLUFOR. But yeah obviously the Army would be more successful and have more ass like AH-64s, MBTs, and IFVs and professional soldiers trained in occupation.

But you cannot secure additional land and project force without sea and air superiority. I’d also add USAF’s Cyber Command authority as well (I’m not sure if USSF has fully adopted this role yet). I’m also not sure which branch is doing the most work in drone tech, but I’d imagine it would have to be either USAF or USN as we’ve seen in Ukraine, this will also be a major factor in modern, mechanized warfare.

And yeah you’re also correct, ultimately none of this matters if our Strategic Forces are in the wrong hands. Nuclear remains the “nuclear” option.

  • Military coup. The only way a civil war is successful is if the military are on the side of the people. The most important of which would be the USN and USAF Strategic Forces. A prolonged ground war is only won by sea, air, and nuclear forces. More specifically nuclear forces in the hands of said military who will NOT use them on our own land.

It will present a serious challenge with all the Pentagon purges. But the majority of Flag and Line officers are from West Point, Annapolis, and Maxwell. It’s unlikely most side with Trump (for now). The real trick will hinge on the NCOs, as the US Military is predominantly a middle-out force, and senior NCOs hold the bulk of our service members’ respect. What they decide to do in the majority will dictate the outcome of a civil war. One NG commander already stated publicly he will order his soldiers to protect protesters from ICE agents. There is a small chance.

Ideally the next time President Trump boards Marine 1 he’s taken into custody at a military base with a large Delta, Rangers, or NG presence to subdue USSS agents. With a Federal Judge, Vance, Speaker Johnson, and Grassley in tow. Invoke 25 or Martial Law, and go down the line of succession until someone takes the oath. This is highly unlikely though. A full impeachment is more likely, but a lot of people will need to for die before it will happen.

It’s either that or The Man in The High Castle. The American Fourth Reich.

  • Yeah I’m in the process of moving to France as well. Have been planning it before the current state of affairs and for work reasons but things like ICE and the Thought Police EO are expediting things.

Ultimately my family came here from Europe generations ago for better economic opportunities, more freedom, and virtually every one of us have served our country in some compacity. I no longer see anything on the list that is true anymore. Europe, and France, have their own problems but in the next 60-100 years they seem much more stable and democratic than the US.

I’m contemplating just going on our 90d visa, WFH with my American business, and simply renewing until I get a 1y long-term visa (which you can renew every year with proof of income and NOT working for a EU company). A lot of people on r/digitalnomad and r/getout do a variation of this in Fr.

If things get worse I genuinely think seeking political asylum may be on the table for some people. But I make enough money to not really consider that.

Yeah it’s all a smokescreen. They’ll just shrug it off for their dear leader like everything else. Anyone left supporting Trump are traitors and already quadruple doubled down on his lies and are not the type to admit they’re wrong. It’s just the latest carrot for the Dems to chase while he robs our country.

Ehh naw we just need to let it reset. The house of cards will crumble as soon as Trump croaks, then once ceaser is gone Rome will burn. Hopefully what comes after is better, but it probably won’t.

Personally, my family came to this foreign land, that’s not ours, to seek out a better economic life and freedom. 2024 was the first election that the youngest voting generation went more conservative in the last 100 years. The beliefs of this nation no longer align with my own, so I’m returning back to Europe where my family once came in search of those very values. I realize a lot isn’t great there either, but I have more trust in the EU protecting my fundamental rights than I do the US Constitution.

Failing that, at least Europe has better wine and I’ll just enjoy the view while the world ends.
