Work Reform@lemmy.world•Jamie Dimon says employees can go work somewhere else if they don't like long commutes into the office, thinks remote work doesn't cut it
21·3 years agoI’m all for coming into the office, but I’m no longer commuting on my own dime. You want me in the office, for some messed up reason, my commute is on the clock.
Anyone know where this is? It sort of looks like something you’d see on the Mayo building in Rochester, but I doubt they have death fighting a doctor.
scratch that
I just google mayo art, and the art on the side of that building was more dark iron looking material.
What device are you using? Perhaps its something with my google device not wanting me to use firefox.
I’ve tried using the firefox shortcut on my phone, and it’s less than great (imho). I can’t type replies, it goes all janky, freezes up, won’t go back to the home page, etc. Virtually unuseable.

Technology@kbin.social•Google Says It'll Scrape Everything You Post Online for AI
4·3 years agoRight, but if they are training all new AI on shit they find online, like this comment, wouldn’t that pollute that dataset, considering I generated this comment with AI?

Politics@kbin.social•Activists sue Harvard over legacy admissions after affirmative action ruling
3·3 years agoThis is absolutely hilarious.
Is there discovery process here? I gotta imagine there are some damaging emails about legacy students.

Technology@kbin.social•Google Says It'll Scrape Everything You Post Online for AI
11·3 years agoThis has been discussed elsewhere, and by people smarter than I, but chat bots are going to start learning from other chat bots and it’s going to be less and less reliable over time, no?
Like there is an internet BEFORE ChatGPT, which is about as reliable of data as one could hope to find, and then there is a post day one chatgpt, which the data is already getting polluted by random LLM gibberish. How is google’s webscraping going to know if the data it is getting is legitimate human being thoughts, or just random madeup shit from a LLM?
I’d love to deploy my own instance of either kbin or lemmy, but a ten buck a month price tag is a bit steep (imho). I’ll wait until there are better guides for hosting my own.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: If you want faster and less buggy User experience, move to a smaller instance that is hosted close to you.
4·3 years agoYeah, that will be nice if you can migrate your name to other instances… Cheers!

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: While you're on Lemmy/Kbin/Fediverse, you're not "the product" but you're also not "the customer".
12·3 years agoQuick question: I have an account on Lemmy.world and kbin.social… When trying to post on Lemmy.world it just spins and posts… so I bopped over to my kbin account and one thing I noticed is that Kbin says it has 39 comments, but Lemmy.world this same post has 139… how do I square this circle?

19·3 years agoCan I migrate my account to a new instance? Or will i have user logins all over the fediverse?

Books@kbin.socialtoWorld News@lemmy.ml•Sunken boat killing hundreds overshadowed by Titan submersible coverage
21·3 years agoWell, perhaps other billionaires will see how these folks have been treated, and decide that they’d rather be remembered for doing something great for society, rather than pursuing individual/deadly hobbies.

Cool, any idea where i can get a list of instances to try?
