Not sure if I misunderstood what you said, but it’s not that they only use a few digits because it doesn’t need to be that specific, they only use a few digits because that’s all that is needed to be that specific.

He’s ambitious for sure, but people were also saying landing boosters wasn’t feasible and a waste of time. Now not only is it possible, but it’s routine, and now it allows them to put up more mass than every other agency combined. I’m also curious to know who’s catching boosters like Super Heavy.

The entire space industry is full of delays and over promises, that’s not unique to SpaceX. What is unique to SpaceX is their approach to design which is to test cheap and often in order to develop a refined end result. I’m not sure why the payload part is relevant. Starship is still a prototype, so of course they’re not using a payload.

SpaceX isn’t publicly traded yet, so not sure why you’re mentioning stocks. Also not sure what consequences you’re expecting since it’s a private company.

I think it has to do with the fact that LLMs suck at math because they have short memories. So for the walking part it did the math of 50m (original distance) x 2 (there and back) = 100m (total distance). Then it went to the driving part and did 100m (the last distance it sees) x 2 = 200m.

It’s also frustrating that people keep saying SpaceX “relies on taxpayer money” as if we’re just giving them money for no reason. It’s all contracts! SpaceX only gets money for providing some kind of service. They’re not being bailed out or anything. The Musk hate is justified but so misdirected.

How are there so many people in this thread talking with such confidence and yet know absolutely nothing? SpaceX is the reason NASA doesn’t need to rely on Russia to get astronauts to and from the ISS, so that’s one huge benefit. And Starlink is in such a low orbit that their orbits are constantly decaying and will burn up in the atmosphere without any orbit corrections. So there will never be a chain reaction crash.
