The Prime Directive is not a bad idea when it exists to minimise harm. When it gets turned into a pseudo-religious dogma, where it is considered better to allow a culture to be extinguished than to risk contaminating it, that’s when there are problems for me.

1·3 years agoI’d say there’s a difference between a “sovereign power” and a single being occupying a cave with a bunch of eggs. Plus, interfering with internal politics and simply making contact are different things.

7·3 years agoAre there any browsable backups/archives of Daystrom? There’s a vast amount of content there which I’d hate to see lost.
From 86000 members to 300. Hopefully Reddit backs down.
The problem is that there’s nothing inherently special or good about natural processes. Why should they want to avoid interfering with them?
