As an 80s kid, hitting 40 was the best thing that ever happened to me. Shit that used to matter suddenly doesn’t, like you flipped a lightswitch. You get new superpowers, and they’re all bitchy. I recommend it to everyone.

Games@lemmy.world•6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?English
5·1 year agoThis is the advice I came here looking for. I’m intimidated by the switch and have no time, but if there’s a distro that’s easy to get going, I’m there for it. I’ll check it out!
I’m not going to lie, that sounds really good. I’m sorry about your job, but your dinner sounds amazing.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would Kamala Harris have won the 2024 election if Latinos didn't shift hard to the right?
62·1 year agoAs another White Dude for Harris, I concur entirely. It’s definitely an issue with white dudes.
I actually like the barn as a unit of measure.
I am forever haunted by the decision decades ago to refer to two of the quarks as Top and Bottom. Maybe it was cute at the time. It did not age well.

Games@lemmy.world•Games that force you to make hard choicesEnglish
1·2 years agoI’ll second This War of Mine. It draws from the experiences of civilians during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 90s. The choices are hard, and they have real consequence, and what you pick will haunt your dreams.
Okay, you might be on to something.

I’m clueless about Linux, so I tried it. It seems to be just working for me for most of my Steam library, at least with Proton Experimental. I don’t have a XBone controller, but my SteelSeries knockoff does fine. That said, I have no idea what might cause it to break. (Though, it doesn’t seem to like my mechanical hard drives much.)
(I use bazzite, btw ;) )
