Your flock post reminder that they aren’t just license plate readers. They capture Bluetooth and wifi MACs, NFC IDs, and cellphone IMEIs, scan for wifi ssids (exactly like a WiFi Pineapple, to further fingerprint a device) from every device within range. They also do facial recognition of everyone within view of the lens. All that information is sent to flock for sale to any government agency,
A couple of magnets and a small sheet of metal will not only block the camera, but also leave it fully enclosed in a metal box.
A stiff wind or a jostle will knock that loose. Sometimes what you need is a hammer

A few neodymium magnets and that’s a non issue. It also makes it harder to prove damages in front of a judge, if you’re ever caught.
General Ludd’s hammer always worked.
Fuck the people in my town have just started running them over with their cars.
To the point it’s making headlines in the news lmao
Black spray paint
That doesn’t stop the electronic surveillance.
Sure, but it makes it a whole lot easier for the next activist to disable that
We work in teams. Each accoring to their own ability and risk appetite.
First, someone maps the location of the cameras on OSM. That’s totally legal and extremely important for the whole effort.
Next, someone spray paints them. Then someone cuts them down and smashes them. Finally, scrappers come to collect the waste.
Some people burn the cameras out with lasers instead of spray paint!
lasers don’t damage the entire sensor, it puts dots in the sensor but rarely kills it entirely.
I’m seeing a whole lot of people say otherwise with laser strength talk and have handled cameras before so imma trust them over some random claiming otherwise.
I was going to go with dog shit but an I am not crafty as all of yous.
I’m just pragmatic. It works better at scale to fill an old fire extinguisher with black spray paint and pressurize it
No, and as said that only blocks the camera and nothing else. Every single thread I’ve seen feels like there are people who are actively trying to suggest the worst ways to do something to them. It almost feels like paid actors who are there to lower the level of handicap made to the cameras, it’s that prevalent.
Again and again it’s someone who says the right thing, actually destroying them or using something to disable more than just one thing and there’s always replies like yours.
I just don’t understand how people witch such immense ignorance and idiocy show up and reply to every fucking thread.
Also microphones
It would be a shame if someone much smarter than me used that knowledge to exploit these systems with
malwarefreedomeware.What are their inputs?
How does it fetch NFC data when it’s only readable within a few cm?
I think the point is, they are scraping any possible data points they can over any tech/frequency/etc. NFC is unlikely unless that is pushed alongside BTLE, BT, or WiFi.
FWIW, businesses deploy tech that does this too, just for pure greed purposes, rather than mass surveillance.
You “can” read nfc from further away, the couple of cm limit is it’s designed operation.
You need an emitter with enough field strength to power the remote chip that is also sensitive enough to read the modulation on the signal. You can buy commercial devices that go about a meter. You can get all hacky and push way past that, but you need antennas that are much larger than what would fit in a flock box
That’s really insightful, thanks 👍
I questioned that too. Didn’t get a satisfactory response. It was a in a presentation for mainly law enforcement to a generally non-technical audience. But I include it in my ‘notification’ anyway because those bastards are sneaky. The main push of the presentation is that if it emits a signal, it’s leaving digital exhaust that can be tracked and correlated.
Are some allegedly ALPR+car identification (including dents and “convoys”, associated vehicles) only while others (like some capturing walking paths) do the faces + audio & all?
That one’s begging for some spray paint
A camera is only one of the many sensors in the surveillance system
It will at least have one less method to surveil us with.
Try EMP.
Land of the free home of the Surveillance State
Wouldn’t it be absolutely horrible if somebody accidentally swung a sledgehammer into the back of that from the other side before being filmed.
do not bring any phone or smart device with you
As soundtrack i recommend Savant - Slegdehammer.
still vulnerable to a hammer and a lock cutter
It’s got six itty bitty phillips screws.
My. Local jackasses just put a speed reader like this right in one of the lanes on my street. It tells you your speed as you swerve around it into incoming traffic. It’s infuriating… Now I want to check to see if has a flock cam in it.
The game is now the people vs the unelected.
The elected feel entitled to their positions and are trying to established the unelected to attain their desires outside of the will of the people.
Dismantle the whole thing. Punish them.
How does that punish anyone? You may feel righteous venting your anger on a hunk of plastic, but that feeling doesn’t signify anything.
Dismantle not wreck. Take every part.
It hits their budget. In so much as they have one. Its not the punishment they deserve, but you need to find their families for that.
Look, your time would be better served putting together a delegation to speak before your local municipal council. It’s easy, it’s free, it’s your right, and it’s far more effective than random vandalism. If you haven’t even done that, you’re probably not very serious about this and you’re just here venting your impotence.
You think someone doing this gives a shit what I have yo say? Have you seen what they spend on tear gas?
lol
It hits YOUR budget. Who is this “they”??
No, seriously, who is this “they” with families that you are now threatening? Who do you think this punishes? I really want to know.
There are those who want to be left alone, and They/them/those are those ones you just won’t leave them alone.
Who owns the cameras, numbnuts?
Oh, you’re just some random abusive user, not the person I was talking to. Both please forgive my mistake.
I do. The public does. Who do you think owns and pays for the cameras? And why are you being so cagey about answering my simple questions? The abuse and evasion you respond with makes me think they are somehow threatening to you, but that would be absurd. Right?
‘The public’?
The same ‘public’ that makes all my friends own anonymizing clothing that covers all identifying features and gas masks in case they ever want to hold up a sign asking that their tax dollars not be used to fund the rape of babies and murder of entire hospitals? The same ‘public’ that makes everyone I know feel like they’re a hunted animal when they dye their hair or go into a rich part of town or speak their mind in the open? The same ‘public’ that disappears people for being homeless or born an hour’s drive south of here, and kills people for asking themto stop?
Because that ‘public’ and the people who support them need to be killed.
No, Flock owns their cameras. The public paying for damages only extends until the public refuses to do so.
I’m not being cagey, I’m someone else pointing out that you’re an idiot who apparently can’t even read usernames
Put a little vaseline on the lens…
What’s the legality of something like that? You aren’t damaging property and you aren’t defacing in the same way as spray paint.
Lil spray paint won’t hurt
Neither will fire. Prove me wrong. If I’m wrong, we still win.
Stick an axe in it for fun? >:3c
My psych says I’m not allowed to have so much fun.
Damn, to bad they don’t work on Sundays lol (Imagine publicly planning a flock heist and police go to protect it on a fucking Sunday of ask things and no one ever show s up lmao)
If glass, add a lot if super glue. If plastic, blow torch the lens If other a sledge hammer will do the trick
Is covering it a obstruction? Since the device it’s in clearly is for another usecase.
Big ball of mud should take care of that for a while
These things aren’t new, even a little bit. Whoever posted this really must be from Podunk if this is the first time they’ve seen one.
With the flock camera in the back?
