The Xiaomi was supposed to replace a ATV stick I ripped out of a projector to use on a TV out the back.

I got the Xiaomi 3rd gen from my countries trusted equivalent of Amazon. The store used to be a brick and mortar store. The device came with an international AC plug in the box but atleast had an adapter thrown loosly in the bag. Since it’s Chinese I didn’t think much of it.

I was frustrated with Stremio stuttering to the point of not being able to use it, and thought there’s no way this should be worse then the ransom stick I’ve been using.

There was also no way to enable Developer Mode (as I’ve done on all ATVs and Phones) no matter what I did, even after a reboot.

I’m glad I was going to do this to remove the Xiaomi stuff. It sent me down and internet hole and I found two key posrs on another social media site btw Fuck Spez.

Lookup those lists for more info but some of the key tells are.

• Back writing on the back of the decice
• Name of the pre installed Netflix app
• Device listed as something else in your Google account (but this might now be fixed)
• Cant enable dev mode (not sure if all the fakes are like this)

There’s some extra apps you can install to tell too, but from the box and device it’s almost impossible to tell.
