    I’m American and know it’s a big deal for Scotland to get in but are people actually giving a fuck about the world cup largely hosted in the US, claimed by Trump as his, after the governing body FIFA gave him a peace prize after directly threatening military invasion of europe only a week ago?

    Germany is discussing boycotting it, I’m shocked to see an article about it coming up as if none of the host location, FIFA alignment with faacists and current context outweigh a cup?

      Hard to take a hard moral stance while consuming any FIFA product tbh. The phony prize is par the course for them.

      WRT Trump’s America being hosts, I think the most you can really ask of people is that they don’t visit and drop a bunch of money into the US economy.

      Scotland’s first sport both attendance wise and participation wise is football. By a massive amount. And we haven’t been to the world cup since 1998. So a boycott is exceptionally unlikely, political suicide essentially. We also go to the polls in less than 100 days here. Nobody will be sticking their neck out on this topic before then
