The Asus one I’ve got seems to be dying so I thought this might be a good time to give OpenWRT a shot now
Protectli offers some really nice hardware that you can install many different router operating systems on. Their routers use coreboot and are fairly customizable.
Gl.inet flint 2 or 3. The first one is way cheaper especially when it goes on sale but it is WiFi 6 and a little older Edit: typo
These should be the go to typical home router for everyone
I came here to suggest the same thing. I switched from an end-of-life Asus to a Flint 2. I’m quite happy. About a year of use and It only stops working when I turn it off.
Doesn’t the Flint 3 have a modified WRT that’s not really WRT ?
Yes it is modified but you can easily update the firmware to OpenWRT on gl.Inet devices. It doesn’t get easier and more straightforward than this
