Windows box back cover by Maxis (1995):

“Simcity Jr.”, Japan SNES box front cover art by Imagineer (1996):

Oh man I can hear some of those silly sound effects just seeing some of these buildings. Thank you 🙏
Used to play this in the computer lab at the local community center. I loved being able to see what the individual people were doing and thinking. It was the first time I saw that level of sim. Way before “The Sims” took it to the extreme.
Recently watched a Let‘s play of it and it looks like a really unique and charming game.
I am surprised no one remade it, it seems like a formula that could appeal to a lot of people (not only kids, but even those looking for a more “cozy” experience).
I liked SimAnt
YES! Imagine how tasty those green fuzzy pellets were. And the lil spider guys were fun, you could play as them fro memory.
I remember the first time my colony got indoors and discovering the powerpoints electrocute you.
Never tried that one when I was a kid. I probably would have enjoyed it.

The haunted house in the foreground reminds me of this gem from the same era.
they don’t make haunted houses like they did in the 90s man.
