Probably some children’s book I can’t remember. The earliest book I remember reading by myself would be one of this series (in Polish) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomek_in_the_Land_of_Kangaroos?wprov=sfla1

This one was also a popular children’s book, but I think it was read to me by my mother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademia_pana_Kleksa_(novel)?wprov=sfla1

First memory of books that made me a voracious li’l reader were the Selby series by Duncan Ball.

Pre-consciousness I’m told it was The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Story and the Big Hungry Bear 🐻

That I finished and enjoyed for myself? Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan. I still like the series, I had at the time the first book of HP and wasnt interested and there where no movies if I remember correctly. Then I devoured darren shan’s books, HP and the rest is history

First book I’m certain that I read front-to-back was the first HP book when I was 16.

The book that actually triggered a love of reading in me was the Dark Elf trilogy in the Dungeons and Dragons world.

The book that then grabbed me for serious reading was 1984.

Oh man, my first book was “Goodnight Moon.” I remember my mom reading it to me every night. Those simple, rhyming verses stuck with me so much that I still think of it whenever I see a red balloon! Funny how a little book can leave such a big mark, right? What about you? Anything from your first book that’s stuck in your mind?
