Looks like the intent is to avoid a situation where the jury acquits him out of sympathy to avoid the death penalty. There are still charges on him that carry a penalty of life in prison.

Games@lemmy.world•Why is Valve being sued for almost $900 million, but Epic Games wasn't sued when they bought Rocket League and Fall Guys to remove them from steam?English
14·1 day agoThat’s because they can’t intimidate Bethesda with an email.
The insult on top of that injury is that the penalties for being uninsured weren’t removed.
For a lot of people, the coffee/energy drink has become a ritual of sorts. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
But you’re not wrong.
Ah, but the thing you’re missing is that the more Mamdanis get elected, the more pressure there will be within the Democratic party to change.

3·6 days agoThe controller integration is probably the #1 reason I prefer to keep Steam going in the background.
Consolidated multiplayer (friends list, etc) would be the #2 reason.

2·12 days agoI see exactly one(1) comment that suggests trying a different distro.
One comment is suggesting using a game streaming application (Moonlight).
One comment is suggesting using the RDP server that comes with Fedora (which jaschen306 stated they are using).
One comment is yours.
One comment is saying it’s probably a hardware issue.
And finally, one comment is suggesting a gaming-focused Linux distro - but specifically calling out that it’s if they’re looking for a gaming distro.
Admittedly I have Hexbear and Lemmygrad blocked, so I might be missing other comments.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
To Laguna Beach, apparently.
(I kid. Calling Cruz ‘tough’ is like calling meringue ‘dense’.)
I can’t help but hear that in Psycho Mantis’s voice
Try going to a furry convention with your mask, a sketchbook, and a sign that says ‘Will work for lesbian cuddles’. Don’t neglect your personal hygene (a common mistake at cons). Make sure to compliment the people around you on their artwork, their outfits, their tattoos, anything that involved effort on their part. Hang out where people are. Be open to conversations. Learn to draw from them. Learn why they joined the furry community.
Then hold up your sign and ask if they know where cuddles are.
If that doesn’t work at least once over the course of a whole convention, then there’s a good chance the world is already reduced to a pile of ash. Furries are suckers for cuddles.

4·12 days agoUnfortunately, the anti-cheat is a conscious decision by the developers to forego any sort of Linux compatibility. Anything that allows it to be run in Linux will likely result in the anti-cheat software being updated to block that workaround.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warnsEnglish
3·12 days agoThe trouble is that it becomes far too easy to fall into the pattern of power being used to garner more power. All power needs to be held in check to avoid that very simple flaw. The moment the people are convinced that power of any sort shouldn’t be held in check is the moment that they are doomed.
Vector elements can also have shading and translucency without requiring a 3D engine. Easily. If the reflections don’t move, there’s no need to use 3D rendering for any of this.

If Trump is putting someone on blast, odds are it’s because they said something meeeeaaaan about him and got his feefees hurt. He always starts with ‘they’re the worst (whatever their job is)’ and admits partway through what it’s really about.
