17·7 months agoI feel like this won’t last long (maybe 10 or 15 years), because they’ll end up prioritizing seniors.
Why would a politician prioritize artists when the majority of voters are seniors who want their pensions?

Bluesky Social 🦋@lemmy.zip•Nate Silver's big dumb Blueskyism piece doesn't make any fucking sense.English
1·9 months agoI read Nate’s article and Ryan’s article to compare.
Well, the truth is, I partially agree with Nate, because social media is about sharing points of view, which most of the time won’t coincide. Although on some occasions they will, like this time the NRA opposed banning gun sales to trans people.
There may be good people who are right-wing or left-wing, but there will be many who aren’t, and unfortunately, these are the ones who leave a bad taste in people’s mouths, making them think they’re all like that.
Also, the fact that most of the most-liked posts on Bluesky are erotic content makes it vulnerable, in my opinion, and I feel it should be reinforced.

Bluesky@lemmy.world•Buy more expensive medications as long as they don't have AI in their processEnglish
13·9 months agoWhat you say is partly correct.
Most of the cost of a medicine is research, so when new patented medicines come to market, they are usually very expensive because they have to generate profits.
Then, when the patents expire, generic drugs become available, which are very cheap because they are cheap to produce.

Technology@programming.dev•*Permanently Deleted*English
24·9 months agoWell, the user is giving his point of view on this event. Because it’s not the first time that there have been protests in front of a big tech company, for example, this VOA News video from 6 months ago talking about a protest, and I really don’t know what happened next.
And that prevents Israel from using open source and/or free software for its questionable activities or worse, go to Palantir to hire their services, because the protests only end up helping Israel so that it can change its services.
The user considers that it is more effective not to pay taxes as a form of protest, but the other option would be to protest against Netanyahu. For using the war in Gaza to prevent elections because they are technically at “war” and remain in power.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Intel reveals it’ll shed 24,000 employees this year and retreat in Germany, Poland, and Costa RicaEnglish
3·10 months agoIt depends on how Intel is rescued: whether the government nationalizes it completely to become a state-owned company, partial rescue of the company to structure it, conventional rescue, or whether it is placed under federal guardianship for a time and then privatized.
In short, yes, but in certain scenarios.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Intel reveals it’ll shed 24,000 employees this year and retreat in Germany, Poland, and Costa RicaEnglish
4·10 months agoArguments in favor of rescuing Intel:
- It is a crucial sector; if a company goes bankrupt, it is difficult to recover for several years, because it is usually difficult for a new company if it does not have sufficient resources and/or support.
- If Intel declares bankruptcy, it would leave AMD with a monopoly on x64 because, without a direct rival to compete with, the price of CPUs is likely to increase and, as a result, the price of PCs would also increase.
- By rescuing Intel, the company can better plan its strategies and make long-term plans without pressure from shareholders to make a profit.
- It would preserve many people’s jobs, keeping unemployment low and without affecting people’s finances.
- Continue to maintain technological sovereignty in the country without the risk of another foreign company buying Intel’s technology.
